HISTORY OF PUUF

In December 1992, individuals interested in establishing a fellowship of an “open and affirming religion” on the North Oregon Coast were invited to a meeting.  The result of this meeting was the founding of the Pacific Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (PUUF).  The first service was held on January 31, 1993.  With 37 charter members, PUUF became affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association in April 1995.

As a Welcoming Congregation, we are committed to combating prejudice and intolerance and increasing understanding among all peoples regardless of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, or ethnicity.

Since September 2000 we have been privileged to share the historic Finnish First Congregational UCC church with their congregation.  Our members are drawn from as far south as Manzanita and as far north as the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington.

Our first minister, the Rev. Sue Ayer was hired one-quarter time beginning in September of 2006.
